SPONGE PARK
Topographical variations on flooding
HAN SU BONG Architecture Program, Class of 2022, Instructor : Kim, Jung Soo
The embankment existing on the Han River was built to prevent water,
but it created a height difference between the city and the Han River, leading to a lack of communication between the waterfront space and the Han River.
The appearance of the wide Han River has been left as an object of observation, and due to changes in water level,
it has been left as an empty space parallel to the river without actively utilizing the waterfront space.
Sponge park is a new landscape park that responds to the difference in existing large water levels
while actively communicating by obscuring the boundary between the waterfront space cut off by the embankment and the Han River
