도시 교통과 환경문제를 해결하고자 하는 수요의 측면과 기술의 진보와 융합이라는 공급의 측면에 기인하여 ‘도심항공모빌리티’, UAM이라는 신사업이 급격하게 떠오르고 있다. 전 세계적으로 도시화가 빠르게 진행되고 있으며, 도시 교통 문제는 교통혼잡에서만 끝나는 것이 아니라 에너지를 낭비하고, 환경을 오염시키며, 소음을 일으키며 연쇄적으로 일어나고 있다. 즉, 도시 교통 문제 해결은 도시 전체의 거주적합성을 위해서라도 반드시 해결해야 할 과제로 여의도 속 기존 교통체계의 패러다임을 바꿀 항공택시, 항공택배, 수상택시를 도입하여, 도심 속 모빌리티 허브를 계획하였다.

점차 다가올 미래를 생각하고, 이러한 것들이 건축적인 언어로 나타났을 때 도시의 다양한 기능을 효율적으로 사용하며, 이를 바탕으로 시민들 삶의 질 향상과 도시의 지속 가능한 발전을 추구하는 스마트 시티로서의 바탕이 될 것이다.

Urban Air Mobility, or UAM, is a new business that is rapidly emerging, driven by the demand to solve urban transportation and environmental problems and the supply of technological advances and convergence. Urbanization is progressing rapidly around the world, and urban traffic problems do not end with traffic congestion alone, but also waste energy, pollute the environment, and generate noise. In other words, solving urban traffic problems is a task that must be solved for the livability of the entire city, and we have planned an urban mobility hub by introducing air taxis, air couriers, and water taxis that will change the paradigm of the existing transportation system in Yeouido.

By thinking about the future and expressing these things in architectural language, the efficient use of various functions of the city will become the basis for a smart city that seeks to improve the quality of life of citizens and sustainable development of the city.
