산업화가 진행되면서 사회 전반적으로 많은 부분들이 효율성에 의해 결정되기 시작했다. 도시가 용도별로 조닝되기 시작한 것 또한 이러한 이유에 의해서인 것이다. 효율성 자체가 문제가 되지는 않는다. 하지만 도시와 건축의 영역에 있어 다른 것들이 배제된 채 효율에 의해서만 결정 되어진다면, 그것은 심각한 문제를 초래할 것이라 예측한다. 거대한 공동주거 형태의 건축은 도시적 관점에서 바라봐야 할 필요가 있다. 그러므로 집으로가는 길이 아파트 엘리베이터를 타고 복도를 거친후 끝나는 것이 아니라 과거에 우리가 가졌던 동네에서의 공공적 시퀀스가 필요하다. 시퀀스를 가져야만 인간이 모여 산다는 의미가 공간에 함축된다. 퇴근후 집으로 가는 길에 과일가게를 거치고 세탁소를 거친후 집에 도착하는 과정에서 과일 가게와 세탁소 공간은 단순히 상업적 공간이 아니라, 도시공간과 주거공간의 경계를 완화시켜주는 중간영역의 역할을 해주는 아주 중요한 공간이다. 이처럼 과거로부터 우리가 잃어버렸던 공공성을 되찾음과 동시에 도시의 밀도에 맞게 고층화 가능한 새로운 공동주거의 프로토 타입을 제안한다.

As industrialization progressed, many parts of society as a whole began to be determined by efficiency. This is why cities have begun to be zoned for their purposes. Efficiency in itself is not a problem. But if other things are ruled out of the realm of urban and architectural, and are determined only by efficiency, it is predicted that it will cause serious problems. The construction of a huge common-residential form needs to be viewed from an urban perspective. Therefore, the road home does not end after going through the hallway in an apartment elevator, but needs a public sequence in the neighborhood we had in the past. The meaning of human beings living together only when they have a sequence is implied in space. On the way home from work, after going through a fruit shop and going through a laundry, the fruit shop and laundry space are not just commercial spaces, but rather a very important space that acts as a middle area that relaxes the boundaries between urban and residential spaces. As such, we propose a prototype of a new cohabitation that can be high-rise to meet the density of the city while regaining the publicity we have lost from the past.
