전쟁 후 부족한 물자와 급격한 인구 집중으로 인해 지은 판자집이 즐비했던 해방촌 , 집과 집이 따개비처럼 붙어 있고 자연 발생적인 형태로 막다른 골목과 길도 많았다. 남산 3호 터널은 박정희 대통령 집권당시, 강남 고속터미널과 도심을 연결하기 위하여 만들었다. 하지만,남산 3호 터널의 생성은 급격한 산업화의 폭력으로 작용하여, 오늘날 까지 해방촌 동네와 이태원을 경계짓는 장애물이 되었다. 또한 오늘날, 용산 2주거 환경개선지구 는, 우측에 용산초등학교와 , 좌측에 남산 3호 터널에 의해, 고립된 도시섬이 되었다.
이에 , 새로운 랜드스케이프 인프라스트럭쳐를 만들어, 고립된 도시섬을 연결, 해방촌과 교류, 융합을 통해 새로운 동네를 만들고자 한다

The village was created by people who came down from the north along with liberation. Haebang Village, which was filled with shacks built after the war due to scarce supplies and rapid population concentration, houses are attached like barnacles, and there are many dead end roads in a naturally occurring form.
However, with the construction of Namsan Beltway (Sowol-gil) in 1963, the residents of the area were forcibly relocated. As a result, a boundary between Haebangchon and Namsan was created with the Namsan street
Also, with the construction of the Namsan Tunnel No. 2 in 1970 and the Namsan Tunnel No. 3 in 1978, the boundary of Haebang Village was set similarly to the present day, as it has a boundary with Itaewon-dong in the east.
Currently, the disconnection caused by the Namsan Tunnel has been induced as the Yongsan 2nd residential improvement district. Due to the Namsan altitude limit (12M), development is not in progress so far. the village remained as Urban island
